Roughly a month ago, Drauger OS 7.4.1 Beta 2 Jiangshi was released with many updates and bug fixes. Now, it’s time for Drauger OS 7.4.1 Beta 3 Jiangshi to be released. First up, the release date.
Here at Drauger OS Development, we have finally settled on a beta cycle. In total, each release of Drauger OS should have 3 beta releases, each 2 months apart, including the final stable release. Feature Freeze (when development of new features for the OS is halted in order to focus on bug fixes and optimizations) will commence between Beta 2 and Beta 3.
Keeping the the plans laid out in the above paragraph, Drauger OS 7.4.1 has been in feature freeze for roughly 3 weeks, give or take a few days. Since Beta 2 was released on January 30th, Beta 3 should be released in late March. Working with our current schedule, Drauger OS 7.4.1 Beta 3 Jiangshi has been slated for release on March 24th. This release will not have any new features. Only bug fixes.
Next, we would like to announce that we are also working on an alpha version of Drauger OS 7.5.1, whose code-name is yet to be announced. Currently, we are trying to change our development environment to something less strenuous on the hardware we use, so there is a lot of debugging going on with this new version. However, the current ISOs we are building internally are about half the size of previous ISOs at 1.5 GB. If this size change persists, you can expect to see faster downloads, quicker burn-to-USB times, and less of your disk space taken up overall. Of course, that is a very big if, and we cannot make any promises at the time being as to how it will look, ISO sizes, bugs, and more.
However, what we can say, is that Drauger OS will be getting a new logo!
In the next week or so, Drauger OS will be getting a new logo. We aim to change it on SourceForge, on our website, our Discord Server, our Telegram Support Group and Development Group, and in the OS itself all at once. This will only affect Drauger OS 7.4.1, however. If you are on Drauger OS 7.3.7, you can get the new logo/icons by visiting our GitHub Repo.
For those of you using Drauger OS 7.4.1, if do not you have the Drauger OS repo installed, you can follow the instructions to add it to your install here. We bring the repo up because if you have the repo and Drauger Installer installed on your system then it will automatically change the logo when you update your system next time.
If you have any issues with the logo change, or any issues or questions about Drauger OS in general, feel free to contact us at any of the links provided below.
Sincerely,
Thomas Castleman
